It’s one of those treatments that sounds almost too good to be true — and that’s exactly why so many people have questions about it before they commit.

So let’s go through it properly. What fat freezing actually is, how it works, whether it’s safe, how it compares to other options, and what a treatment looks like here at The Body Lab Wiltshire in Swindon.

What Is Fat Freezing?

Fat freezing — or cryolipolysis, to use the clinical name — is a non-invasive body contouring treatment that uses controlled cooling to target and reduce localised fat deposits.

The science behind it is straightforward: fat cells are more sensitive to cold temperatures than the surrounding skin, muscle, and tissue. When fat cells are exposed to a precise, sustained low temperature, they essentially break down and die — a process called apoptosis. Your body then naturally clears those dead cells through the lymphatic system over the weeks that follow.

No needles. No anaesthetic. No surgery. No downtime.

It was developed off the back of clinical research and is now one of the most widely performed non-invasive fat reduction treatments in the world.

Does Fat Freezing Actually Work?

Yes — but with an important caveat that’s worth being honest about.

Fat freezing works well for reducing localised pockets of fat in specific areas. Think stubborn belly fat that doesn’t shift despite a healthy diet, love handles, inner thighs, upper arms, back fat, or underneath the chin. These are areas where fat can be isolated and treated effectively. The results can vary from person to person and its important to follow the post treatment advice. If you are not sure if it right for you or how many sessions you may need come in for a free consultation – we will only ever be honest

Typical results show a noticeable reduction in fat in the treated area, with most people seeing the full outcome around 8 to 12 weeks after treatment as the body finishes clearing the affected cells.

What fat freezing is not is a weight loss treatment. It won’t change the number on the scales, and it isn’t designed to treat obesity or large volumes of fat across the body. It’s a body contouring tool — it’s best suited to people who are broadly at a healthy weight but have specific areas they’d like to improve that exercise and diet haven’t shifted.

When expectations are realistic and the treatment is applied to the right candidate in the right areas, the results are genuine and lasting. Fat cells that are destroyed don’t come back and you maintain results with your lifestyle .

Is Fat Freezing Safe?

Fat freezing has a well-established safety profile. It’s a non-surgical procedure with no incisions, no anaesthetic, and no recovery period required.

During treatment you’ll typically feel an intense cold sensation and some pulling or pressure from the applicator, which usually settles within a few minutes as the area numbs. Afterwards, some redness, mild bruising, and temporary numbness in the treated area are common and resolve on their own.

Serious complications are rare. As with any aesthetic treatment, the key is having it carried out by someone trained in the technology, who properly assesses your suitability beforehand and uses professional-grade equipment.

At The Body Lab Wiltshire, every client has a thorough consultation before any treatment begins. We don’t just put anyone on the machine — we make sure fat freezing is actually the right treatment for your goals and your body before we proceed.

How Does It Compare to Other Treatments?

This is something a lot of clients ask, particularly if they’ve been looking at other body sculpting options. Here’s a straightforward comparison:

Fat freezing vs. surgery (liposuction) Liposuction removes more fat volume in one session and can treat larger areas, but it’s a surgical procedure — meaning anaesthetic, downtime, swelling, bruising, and recovery time. Fat freezing is the non-surgical alternative for clients who want meaningful results without any of that. It treats smaller, more defined areas and works gradually rather than immediately.

Fat freezing vs. HIFU body sculpting HIFU (High-Intensity Focused Ultrasound) uses ultrasound energy to target fat and can also stimulate collagen, making it useful where there’s a skin tightening element as well as fat reduction. Fat freezing tends to work better for more defined pockets of fat with good skin elasticity. Both treatments are available here at the clinic, and sometimes a combination approach is the right answer.

Fat freezing vs. diet and exercise Diet and exercise are brilliant for overall health, weight management, and general fat loss — but they can’t spot-reduce. Your body decides where it draws from, which is why stubborn pockets in specific areas can persist regardless of how well you eat or how regularly you train. That’s where fat freezing fills the gap. However we would always advocate for having a good lifestyle habits for your health.

Which Areas Can Be Treated?

Fat freezing can be used on a range of areas, including:

Abdomen and lower belly

Flanks and love handles

Inner and outer thighs

Upper arms

Back fat and bra line

Knees

The suitability of each area depends on the individual — which is why a proper assessment before treatment is essential.

What Happens During a Fat Freezing Treatment at The Body Lab Wiltshire?

When you come in for fat freezing at the clinic, here’s what you can expect.

Before you come in we will send you a form to fill in so we can read that in advance, We will then start with a full consultation at your appointment to go through your goals, assess the areas you want to treat, and make sure fat freezing is appropriate for you. There are certain contraindications — cold-related conditions, for example — that would mean it’s not suitable, so we always check first.

On treatment day, if using our premium treatment, we start with a short period oof metameric stimulation and then we use a cream on the area and the cooling handle is moved across the area by your therapist. Most clients chat, scroll, or simply relax during this time and virtually everyone comments who manageable and comfortable it is.

You can go straight back to your normal day — there’s no recovery time needed.

Results develop gradually over 4 weeks with our premum treatment (or 8 to 12 weeks with our standard treatment) as the body processes the dead fat cells. Some clients choose to have a second session on the same area for additional improvement.

Who Is Fat Freezing Suitable For?

Fat freezing works best for people who:

Are at or close to their target weight but have specific areas of stubborn fat

Have realistic expectations about what the treatment achieves

Don’t have contraindications such as cryoglobulinaemia, cold agglutinin disease, or paroxysmal cold haemoglobinuria

Are not pregnant or breastfeeding

It’s not a treatment for significant weight loss, and we’ll always be straight with you at consultation if we think a different approach would serve you better.

How Long Do the Results Last?

This is one of the most common questions — and the answer is reassuring.

Fat cells that are destroyed through cryolipolysis are permanently gone. Your body doesn’t regenerate fat cells in adulthood. So the cells treated during your session won’t come back.

That said, existing fat cells elsewhere in the body can still enlarge if you gain weight over time. The best way to maintain your results is to keep up with a broadly healthy lifestyle. But the treated area itself should stay improved.

Fat Freezing in Swindon — Book a Consultation

If you’re considering fat freezing and you’re in or around Swindon, we’d love to chat through whether it’s right for you.

At The Body Lab Wiltshire we take consultations seriously. This isn’t a tick-box exercise before putting you on a machine — it’s a proper conversation about your goals, your body, and the most effective way to get the results you’re after.

We’re based at The Orbit Centre in West Swindon and offer fat freezing alongside HIFU, laser hair removal, skin treatments, and more.

Book your consultation or get in touch with any questions — we’re always happy to help.

Why Isn’t My Laser Hair Removal Working? The Honest Truth From a Swindon Laser Clinic That’s Seen It All

It’s one of the most disheartening things — you’ve invested time, money, and hope into a course of laser hair removal, and the results just aren’t what you were promised. Or perhaps you’ve had a reaction. Or you’ve been told your skin type isn’t suitable, after several paid sessions. Or the hair is simply growing back as thick as ever.

If any of that sounds familiar, you’re not alone. At The Body Lab Wiltshire in Swindon, we regularly see clients who have come to us after disappointing — or in some cases upsetting — experiences at other clinics. And in almost every case, when we sit down and talk through what happened, the reasons become very clear.

This blog is our honest take on why laser hair removal sometimes fails to deliver, what to look for when choosing a clinic, and why the right technology and the right experience make all the difference.

Why Do So Many People Have Bad Experiences With Laser Hair Removal?

The laser hair removal industry in the UK is, frankly, not well regulated enough. Almost anyone can buy a laser or IPL machine and offer treatments — and many do. This means the quality of treatment varies enormously from clinic to clinic, and clients often have no way of knowing what they’re walking into until things go wrong.

The most common reasons we see for poor results or bad experiences are:

Low-quality or unsuitable equipment. Not all laser machines are created equal, and the difference in quality between a lower-grade machine and a medical-grade laser system like the Candela GentleMax Pro is significant. A cheap or poorly maintained machine simply cannot deliver the same precision, power, or consistency — and that directly affects your results. It’s always worth asking a clinic exactly what machine they use and doing a little research before you commit.

An under-qualified or inexperienced practitioner. Knowing how to operate a laser machine safely and effectively takes genuine training, ongoing learning, and — most importantly — real experience. Settings need to be calibrated correctly for each individual client’s skin tone, hair colour, and hair type. Getting this wrong can mean ineffective treatment at best, and skin reactions or burns at worst.

The wrong settings for the client’s skin. Even with the right machine, incorrect settings are a common cause of poor results. Every person is different, and a one-size-fits-all approach simply doesn’t work with laser hair removal.

Incorrect session spacing. Hair grows in cycles, and laser can only effectively target hair in its active growth phase. Sessions that are booked too close together don’t give the hair cycle enough time to progress, meaning the laser isn’t catching the follicles at the right stage. Proper guidance on timing between sessions is essential — and it’s something we take seriously at every stage of a client’s treatment plan.

Why People Come to The Body Lab After Going Elsewhere

We hear a version of the same story regularly. Someone has had several sessions at another clinic — sometimes a beauty salon offering laser as an add-on, sometimes a larger chain, sometimes a clinic that simply wasn’t right for them — and hasn’t seen the results they expected.

Sometimes the hair hasn’t reduced at all. Sometimes there’s been a skin reaction. Sometimes they’ve been told part way through that the machine isn’t suitable for their skin tone — something that should have been identified at consultation, not after money has been spent.

We never judge anyone for where they’ve been before. People trust clinics with their skin and their money, and it’s genuinely upsetting when that trust isn’t rewarded with results. What we do is sit down, listen, properly assess the situation, and give an honest view on what’s possible going forward.

In many cases, we can absolutely deliver the results that previous treatment failed to achieve. The difference is almost always down to technology and experience.

What Makes the Candela GentleMax Pro Different?

At The Body Lab Wiltshire, we use the Candela GentleMax Pro — and this is not a small detail. It is, genuinely, one of the most significant factors in why our clients get the results they do.

The GentleMax Pro is widely regarded as the gold standard in laser hair removal. Here’s what sets it apart:

Dual wavelength technology. The GentleMax Pro combines two laser wavelengths — Alexandrite (755nm) and Nd:YAG (1064nm). The Alexandrite wavelength is highly effective on lighter skin tones, while the Nd:YAG wavelength penetrates deeper and is safer and more effective on medium to darker skin. This dual capability means we can treat a far wider range of skin tones safely and effectively than clinics using lower-grade or single-wavelength machines.

It is a true medical-grade laser. Not IPL. Not a hybrid. A genuine laser system, clinically proven and used by leading clinics and medical professionals worldwide. The precision and power it delivers simply cannot be matched by cheaper alternatives.

Built-in Dynamic Cooling Device. The GentleMax Pro has a patented cooling system that delivers a burst of cryogen to the skin before each laser pulse, protecting the surface of the skin and significantly improving comfort during treatment. This is one of the reasons our clients consistently describe their experience as far more comfortable than they expected — or far more comfortable than laser treatment they’ve had elsewhere.

Consistent, reliable results. Because the machine is calibrated precisely and the technology is genuinely advanced, we can deliver results that are consistent from session to session — with the confidence that comes from using a system that is trusted globally.

Why Experience Matters as Much as Technology

Having the right machine is essential — but it’s only half of the picture. The person operating it matters just as much.

At The Body Lab Wiltshire, we have eight years of experience in laser hair removal. That’s eight years of treating clients with every skin tone, hair type, and hair concern you can imagine. Eight years of understanding how the laser behaves on different skin, how to adjust settings for individual clients, and how to identify when something isn’t right before it becomes a problem.

That experience is what allows us to take on clients who haven’t had good results elsewhere and actually deliver something different. We know what went wrong, we know why, and we know what needs to change.

It’s also what allows us to have the honest conversations that not every clinic is willing to have. If we look at a client’s hair type and skin at consultation and we don’t think we can deliver the results they want, we will say so. We would rather have that difficult conversation than take someone’s money and underdeliver.

What to Look For When Choosing a Laser Clinic in Swindon or Wiltshire

If you’re considering laser hair removal — whether for the first time or after a disappointing experience elsewhere — here are the questions worth asking before you book:

What machine do they use? Ask specifically. If the answer is vague, or if they can’t tell you the make and model, that’s a concern. The quality of the equipment matters enormously — a medical-grade laser like the Candela GentleMax Pro delivers very different results to a lower-grade machine, and you deserve to know exactly what’s being used on your skin.

What training and experience does the practitioner have? How long have they been performing laser treatments? Do they have formal qualifications? Experience matters enormously in this field.

Do they offer a proper consultation and patch test before treatment? At The Body Lab, consultations and patch tests are mandatory before any laser treatment. This isn’t just best practice — it’s essential for your safety and for getting the best possible results. Any clinic that skips this step is cutting corners.

Are they honest about what’s realistic for your hair and skin type? If a clinic promises you the world without properly assessing your individual situation, be cautious. Laser hair removal produces excellent results for most people — but the right clinic will tell you honestly what to expect for your specific hair type and skin tone.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can you treat someone who has had bad results from laser hair removal elsewhere? In most cases, yes. We start with a thorough consultation to understand what previous treatment was received, what machine was used, and what results (or reactions) occurred. We can then assess whether we can achieve better results with the Candela GentleMax Pro and give an honest view on what’s realistic.

I’ve had a skin reaction from laser elsewhere. Can I still have treatment at The Body Lab? Possibly — but we would need to understand exactly what happened and carry out a full assessment before proceeding. Your safety is always the priority, and we would never begin treatment without being confident it is appropriate for your skin.

Why is there such a big difference in laser hair removal prices in Swindon? Price variation in laser hair removal almost always comes down to the quality of equipment being used, the experience of the practitioner, and the thoroughness of the consultation process. Lower prices often reflect lower-grade machines or less experienced operators. Investing in the right clinic from the start is almost always more cost-effective than paying for sessions that don’t deliver results.

How many sessions will I need at The Body Lab if I’ve already had treatment elsewhere? This varies depending on how much previous treatment you’ve had, what results have been achieved so far, and your individual hair and skin type. We assess this at your consultation and give a realistic treatment plan based on your specific situation.

Come and Talk to Us

If you’ve had a disappointing experience with laser hair removal — anywhere in Swindon, Wiltshire, or beyond — we’d genuinely love to talk it through with you.
Is Laser Hair Removal Worth It? The Honest Cost Breakdown

It’s one of the most common questions we hear at The Body Lab Wiltshire: “I’d love to try laser, but is it actually worth the cost?”

It’s a fair question. Laser hair removal requires an upfront investment — and if you’re used to paying a few pounds for a razor or booking a wax every few weeks, the price of a course of laser sessions can feel like a lot. But when you actually run the numbers, the picture looks quite different.

Here’s an honest breakdown — no fluff, no hard sell.

What Are You Actually Spending on Hair Removal Right Now?

Most people underestimate how much they spend on hair removal because it comes out in small, regular amounts. Let’s look at the real cumulative cost over five years for some of the most common methods.

Estimated 5-year cost comparison (legs + underarms + bikini)

Method

Annual cost (approx)

5-year total

Shaving (razors, foam, skincare)

£200–£350

£1,000–£1,750

Waxing (salon)

£500–£900

£2,500–£4,500

Home waxing / epilating

£100–£200

£500–£1,000

Laser hair removal (course)

One-off course *

£800–£1,200 total *

* Based on a typical 8 session course for the areas above. Occasional top-up sessions may be needed, but many clients go years between them. Prices vary by clinic and area treated.

When you look at it this way, laser hair removal isn’t an expensive luxury — it’s often cheaper than what you’d spend on waxing over a five-year period, and it delivers a result that waxing never can: a lasting reduction in hair growth.

The Costs That Don’t Show Up in the Price Tag

The financial comparison is only part of the picture. There are costs to conventional hair removal that don’t show up on a receipt.

Time

If you shave three times a week, that’s roughly 150 sessions a year — even at ten minutes each, that’s 25 hours annually spent on hair removal. A wax appointment every four weeks means 13 trips to the salon per year, plus travel time. Laser sessions take around 20–45 minutes depending on the area, and once your course is complete, that time essentially disappears.

Skin irritation and ingrown hairs

Shaving rash, waxing soreness, and ingrown hairs are so common that many people just accept them as normal. They’re not. Regular laser treatment can actually reduce ingrown hairs significantly — particularly in areas like the bikini line and underarms where they’re most problematic.

The mental load

Booking wax appointments, remembering not to shave beforehand, planning around regrowth cycles before a holiday — it’s a surprisingly persistent background task. Clients who’ve completed a course of laser frequently tell us that the freedom from that mental load is one of the things they value most.

What Does Laser Hair Removal Actually Deliver?

It’s important to be straightforward about this: laser hair removal produces a significant, lasting reduction in hair growth — not guaranteed permanent removal of every single hair. Results vary depending on hair colour, skin tone, hormonal factors, and the area being treated.

What most clients experience after a full course:

A substantial reduction in hair — typically 70–90% less than before treatment

Hair that does regrow is often finer and lighter

Long periods — often years — without needing to shave or wax

Smoother skin with fewer ingrown hairs

Occasional top-up sessions to maintain results

For the vast majority of clients, that’s a transformative result — and one that pays for itself many times over compared to a lifetime of waxing.

Does the Machine Matter When Comparing Costs?

Yes — and this is worth understanding before you shop purely on price. Laser clinics vary enormously in the quality of equipment they use. A cheaper course of sessions with an underpowered or outdated machine may deliver poor results, requiring more sessions overall — or leaving you disappointed and out of pocket.

At The Body Lab Wiltshire, we use the Candela GentleMax Pro — one of the most clinically trusted laser platforms available. Its dual-wavelength technology (755nm Alexandrite and 1064nm Nd:YAG) means it can be used safely and effectively across a wide range of skin tones, and it’s built to deliver consistent results. It costs more to run than cheaper alternatives — but that’s reflected in the quality of outcomes our clients achieve.

When you’re comparing prices between clinics, always ask what laser they use. It’s the single biggest factor in the result you’ll get.

Is Laser Hair Removal Right for You?

Laser tends to be a particularly good investment if you:

Currently spend regularly on salon waxing

Struggle with ingrown hairs, shaving rash, or skin irritation

Travel frequently and want one less thing to think about

Are planning a holiday and want to feel confident

Have been putting it off for years and are finally ready

If you’re not sure whether it’s the right option for your skin tone, hair type, or budget, the best starting point is an honest conversation. Our consultations are free, and we’ll give you a realistic picture of what to expect — including how many sessions you’re likely to need and what it will cost.

Find Out If It’s Worth It for You — Free Consultation in Swindon

The Body Lab Wiltshire offers free laser hair removal consultations at our clinic at The Orbit Centre in Swindon. We’ll assess your skin and hair type, talk through your goals, and give you a clear, no-obligation quote.

No pressure. No hard sell. Just honest advice — and a clear answer to whether laser is the right investment for you.

Laser Hair Removal Near Me in Swindon: What You Need to Know Before You Book

If you’ve been searching for laser hair removal near you in Swindon, you’ve likely come across a long list of salons, beauty clinics, and medispas — all claiming to offer the best results. So how do you cut through the noise and find a clinic you can actually trust?

This guide covers everything you need to know before you book: how laser hair removal works, what separates a good clinic from a great one, and why the technology really does matter.

How Does Laser Hair Removal Actually Work?

Laser hair removal works by targeting the melanin (pigment) in the hair follicle with a concentrated beam of light. The heat damages the follicle and disrupts its ability to regrow hair. Over a course of treatments — as a broad average eight to ten sessions — most people experience a significant and long-term reduction in hair growth.

It’s worth being clear: laser hair removal is not permanent removal in the way that implies every single hair is gone forever. What most clients experience is a substantial, lasting reduction — with many enjoying smooth skin for months or years between top-up sessions. For most people, that’s a life-changing result.

The Technology Question: Why It Matters More Than You’d Think

Not all laser machines are equal. There’s a significant difference between clinical-grade medical lasers and the IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) devices used in many high-street salons. IPL uses a broad spectrum of light rather than a true laser wavelength — it can work, but it’s generally less precise, less powerful, and less suitable for a range of skin and hair types.

When searching for laser hair removal near you, it’s worth asking the clinic directly:

What laser platform do you use?

Is it FDA-cleared or CE marked?

Is your team laser-qualified?

Can you treat my skin tone safely?

At The Body Lab Wiltshire, we use the Candela GentleMax Pro — one of the most clinically respected laser platforms available. It combines two wavelengths (755nm Alexandrite and 1064nm Nd:YAG), making it effective and safe across a wider range of skin tones than many single-wavelength devices.

Laser Hair Removal on Darker Skin Tones: Getting It Right

Historically, laser hair removal was most effective on lighter skin with dark hair — because the laser targets the contrast between pigment in the hair and pigment in the skin. Earlier technology wasn’t always safe for medium to darker skin tones, which put many people off.

The 1064nm Nd:YAG wavelength on the Candela GentleMax Pro is specifically designed to work safely on darker skin tones (Fitzpatrick types IV–VI). If you’ve been told laser hair removal isn’t suitable for your skin tone, it’s worth having a proper consultation with a clinic that has the right equipment to assess this accurately.

What to Look for in a Laser Hair Removal Clinic Near You

Beyond the machine itself, here’s what separates a clinic worth trusting from one worth avoiding:

Qualified practitioners

Laser is a medical-grade treatment. Your practitioner should hold a recognised laser qualification — not just a beauty therapy certificate. All laser treatments at The Body Lab Wiltshire are carried out by laser-qualified practitioners.

A proper patch test and consultation

Any reputable clinic will insist on a patch test before your first session and will ask detailed questions about your skin, hair, health history, and medications. If a clinic is happy to take your money without doing this, walk away.

Transparent pricing

Laser hair removal is an investment. A good clinic will be upfront about how many sessions are typically needed, what the cost per session or per course is, and what happens if you need a top-up further down the line.

Reviews you can trust

Look for clinics with consistent, detailed Google reviews — not just five stars with no comment. The Body Lab Wiltshire has been recognised as Best Laser Hair Removal Clinic in Swindon in 2023 and 2024, and we’re proud of the results we get for our clients.

Which Areas Can Be Treated?

Laser hair removal can be used on most areas of the body. Popular treatment areas include:

Legs (full leg, half leg, or lower leg)

Underarms

Bikini line and Brazilian/Hollywood

Face (upper lip, chin, sideburns)

Arms

Back and chest

Stomach

Shoulders

Not sure if your area is suitable? Just ask — we’re happy to advise before you book.

How Many Sessions Will I Need?

Hair grows in cycles — and laser only affects hair in the active growth phase. This is why multiple sessions are needed, typically spaced four to eight weeks apart depending on the treatment area. Most clients see significant results after 8-10 sessions, though this varies depending on hair colour, skin tone, hormonal factors, and the area being treated.

We’ll give you an honest assessment at your consultation — not a number designed to upsell you.

Why Choose The Body Lab Wiltshire for Laser Hair Removal in Swindon?

Candela GentleMax Pro — clinical-grade dual-wavelength laser, safe for a wide range of skin tones

Laser-qualified practitioners with a genuine commitment to safety and results

Award-winning: Best Laser Hair Removal Clinic in Swindon 2023 and 2024

BMLA (British Medical Laser Association) member clinic

Based in West Swindon — easy to find, with allocated parking outside

Honest, no-pressure consultations — we’d rather give you the right advice than a quick sale

Ready to Get Started?

If you’re looking for laser hair removal near you in Swindon — and you want results you can trust from a clinic that takes your safety seriously — we’d love to hear from you.

Book a free consultation with The Body Lab Wiltshire today.
What to expect in the 7 days after SQT Bio Microneedling after treatment in Swindon

If you’ve booked in for SQT Bio Microneedling at The Body Lab Wiltshire — or you’re thinking about it — you’ve probably done your research. You know it’s phyiscal needle-free, you know it uses natural freshwater microscopic sponge spicules, and you know it’s supposed to give you glowing, renewed skin.

What you might not know is exactly what’s happening beneath the surface during those seven days after treatment. Why does the skin feel dry and tight on day two? Why does peeling start around day three — and should you be worried about it? What’s going on at a cellular level that produces those results?

This guide walks you through each day of the SQT renewal process, so you know what to expect, why it’s happening, and how to support your skin through it. Because understanding the process is half the confidence.

First, a Quick Recap: What Is SQT Bio Microneedling?
SQT Bio Microneedling is a treatment unlike anything else we offer at The Body Lab Wiltshire — and trust us, we offer a lot. It uses Spongilla spicules, which are microscopic siliceous bio-needles extracted from freshwater sponges. These are 100% natural, vegan, and have been used in skincare research for decades.
During the treatment, a formulation containing millions of these tiny spicules is gently massaged into the skin. In around five minutes, up to three million of these natural microneedles are introduced directly into the dermis — the deeper layer of skin where collagen and elastin live. The skin then responds as it would to any micro-injury: by triggering its own natural repair process.
Here’s the remarkable part. Unlike traditional device microneedling, there is no bleeding, no numbing cream, and no skin breakage. The spicules are microscopic enough to penetrate without causing visible trauma, yet effective enough to create genuine, measurable results. Clinical research has shown that a single session can be equivalent to three to five sessions of traditional microneedling.
We were the first clinic in Swindon to offer SQT Bio Microneedling, and the results we see for clients with acne scarring, pigmentation, fine lines, and uneven texture have been genuinely impressive. But it only works its magic over those seven days post-treatment — so here’s what that actually looks like.

The 7-Day Skin Renewal Journey

Day 1 — The Calm After the Storm
Immediately after your treatment, your skin will be pink or red. This is completely normal and to be expected. The degree of redness varies from person to person, but it generally settles significantly within a few hours. Some clients leave The Body Lab and go straight back to their day — others prefer to take the afternoon gently.
Beneath the surface, the spicules are already at work. They remain in the dermis for up to 72 hours after treatment, continuing to send signals to your skin cells during this window. Think of them as tiny messengers, telling your skin it’s time to wake up and renew. Your body’s healing cascade — which includes the release of growth factors, increased circulation, and the activation of fibroblast cells — begins immediately.

What to do: Nothing – keep it simple. Use only the SQT recovery serum provided after your treatment but only after 24 hours. Absolutey nothing on your skin for 24 hours, definetly no active skincare ingredients like retinol or acids, and direct sun exposure. Drink plenty of water. SPF if you are going outside no matter what the weather

Day 2 — Tightness and Sensitivity

Day two is when most clients notice that slightly unusual feeling: the skin feels tight, almost like you’ve had a mild sunburn. It may also feel drier than usual. This isn’t damage — it’s your skin cells ramping up their activity and beginning to shed the uppermost layer.

This is also the day when the spicules are being gradually excreted from the body along with the outer layer of skin cells. Your skin’s metabolism has been accelerated — the normal 28-day renewal cycle is being condensed into just seven days. Naturally, this creates some sensation as that process kicks in.

A key protein called Fibronectin — which acts as a cellular messenger, prompting skin cells to regenerate and reorganise — is present in the SQT formulation. Its levels naturally decline with age, which is partly why skin renewal slows down. SQT replenishes this, essentially sending your skin a message it may not have received in years.

What to do: Continue with gentle cleansing and the recovery serum only. Avoid touching or picking at the skin. If you feel discomfort, this is temporary and should be mild.

Day 3 — The Peel and Skin Purging may Begin – for some people – not everyone! Only about 23% of people get this on their first treatment.

Day three is the one most people are curious — and sometimes anxious — about. This is when there could be visible peeling or flaking tends to begin, and it can feel alarming if you weren’t expecting it.
There can be some small red or white spots where the skin is purging for a few days

Here’s the thing: this is not damage. It is the evidence that your treatment is working.

The SQT spicules have created millions of microchannels through the dermis, triggering your skin’s scar-healing response. Your body has responded by dramatically accelerating cell turnover. The old, damaged outer skin cells — the ones carrying pigmentation, rough texture, and the surface-level remnants of acne scarring — are being shed to make way for fresher, healthier skin underneath.
The degree of peeling varies. Some clients experience very fine, subtle flaking. Others see more pronounced shedding. Neither means the treatment worked better or worse — it reflects your individual skin’s condition, hydration levels, and how deeply the treatment was applied. Our clients with more congested or textured skin often see more visible peeling, because there is simply more to shed.

What to do: Do not pick, scratch, or try to manually remove the peeling skin. This risks irritation and could affect results. Keep the skin moisturised and be gentle. If you need to be out and about, a light mineral SPF can go on top of the recovery serum.

Day 4 — Deep in the Renewal Process

By day four, you’re in the heart of it. The visible peeling may still be ongoing, and the skin underneath may look slightly uneven or patchy as old and new skin cells exist in transition. This is entirely expected.

Collagen synthesis is now well underway. Your fibroblast cells — the ones responsible for producing collagen and elastin — have been activated and are producing new structural proteins. This is what ultimately gives SQT Bio Microneedling its long-lasting results: the improvements aren’t surface-level. They’re structural.

Clients with acne scarring or deep pigmentation may find that these areas look temporarily more prominent as the outer skin sheds. Stick with the process. What’s underneath is where the results live.
What to do: Keep going with the gentle routine. If your skin is very dry, you can apply a fragrance-free, non-comedogenic moisturiser on top of the serum. Avoid swimming, saunas, and heavy sweating.

Day 5 — The Skin Begins to Clear

Day five often brings a noticeable shift. For many clients, the peeling begins to slow, and the skin that’s emerging underneath starts to look cleaner and clearer. Texture appears smoother. Redness, where it existed, starts to calm.
This is a good day to take a photo if you didn’t take a before shot — comparing how the skin looks on day five to how it looked before treatment can already reveal quite a lot, even though the full results aren’t yet visible.
The microchannels created by the spicules have now fully closed, meaning the risk of sensitivity or irritation from external products is significantly reduced. Your skin barrier is rebuilding.

Day 6 — Brightness Emerges

Most clients notice the most rewarding change around days six and seven: the brightness. The new skin revealed by the shedding process is genuinely fresher — it hasn’t yet been exposed to environmental stressors, and it reflects light differently.
Fine lines may appear softer at this stage because the new skin is plumper and better hydrated than the layer it replaced. If you had active congestion or enlarged pores, you may notice these are visibly less prominent.

The skin may still feel a little delicate, so it’s not yet the moment to reintroduce retinol or acids. But you can begin to see what the treatment has been building toward.

Day 7 — New Skin

By day seven, the renewal cycle initiated by the treatment is largely complete. The old skin has shed, new cells have risen to the surface, and the collagen production triggered in the dermis continues behind the scenes for weeks to come.

The results at day seven are genuinely the beginning rather than the end. Collagen remodelling continues for several weeks after the treatment. Many clients find that their skin keeps improving over the four to six weeks following their session — particularly with regard to firmness, scar appearance, and overall tone.

This is also why we recommend a course of treatments for most skin concerns. Optimal results for issues like acne scarring, hyperpigmentation, or anti-ageing typically require four sessions spaced around two weeks apart. Each session builds on the last, with cumulative improvements that are often more dramatic than any single session would achieve alone.

What Can SQT Bio Microneedling Treat?

One of the reasons we love offering this treatment at The Body Lab Wiltshire is its versatility. The three formulations we use — Resurfacing, Revitalising, and Anti-Ageing — allow us to target specific concerns:

• Acne scarring and post-acne marks
• Sun damage and hyperpigmentation
• Uneven skin texture and enlarged pores
• Fine lines and early signs of ageing
• Active acne and congested skin
• Dull, dehydrated, or lacklustre skin
• Stretch marks and areas of the body beyond the face

The treatment is suitable for all skin types — including sensitive skin — and all skin tones. Because there’s no laser or heat involved and no device needles, the risks associated with traditional microneedling (such as post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation in deeper skin tones) are significantly reduced.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is SQT Bio Microneedling painful?

Most clients describe the sensation as a mild scratchy or tingling feeling during the massage — similar in feel to an exfoliating mask. There is no numbing cream required, no needles breaking the skin, and no bleeding. It’s one of the most comfortable skin renewal treatments available.

How soon will I see results?

Many clients notice improvements within seven days as the new skin emerges. However, the most significant results — particularly for scarring and pigmentation — continue to develop over four to six weeks as collagen remodelling continues beneath the surface.

Can I wear makeup after the treatment?

No makeup for at least 24 to 48 hours after treatment, and ideally for longer while your skin is in the peeling phase.

How many sessions will I need?

For general skin radiance and maintenance, some clients are very happy with one to two sessions. For more significant concerns like acne scarring, deep pigmentation, or anti-ageing, we typically recommend four sessions, spaced two weeks apart. We’ll discuss the right plan for your skin during your consultation.

Is it suitable for sensitive skin?

Yes. The formulation is specifically designed to work with the skin’s natural healing mechanisms, rather than against them. Clients with sensitive or reactive skin often respond very well to SQT Bio Microneedling precisely because of its gentle delivery method. We always carry out a full consultation before your first session to ensure the treatment is right for you.

Book Your SQT Bio Microneedling Consultation in Wiltshire

If you’ve been looking for a skin treatment that actually gets under the surface — quite literally — SQT Bio Microneedling at The Body Lab Wiltshire is worth exploring. We were the first clinic in Swindon to offer this treatment, and Becky’s expertise in tailoring the right formulation to your skin concern means you’re in experienced hands.

We offer a free consultation before any treatment, so there’s no pressure and no guesswork.
You’ve probably Googled it a dozen times. You’ve watched the videos, read the Reddit threads, and still found yourself holding a disposable razor wondering if there’s a better way.

There is. But laser hair removal gets a lot of questions — and honestly, a lot of mixed information online. So let’s cut through the noise with real answers, from a clinic that performs laser hair removal every single day here in Wiltshire.

What Actually Happens During Laser Hair Removal?

Laser hair removal works by targeting the pigment (melanin) in the hair follicle. The laser energy converts to heat, which damages the follicle and inhibits future hair growth — without harming the surrounding skin. The hair has to be dark in colour for the treatment to be effective

At The Body Lab, we use the Candela GentleMax Pro — the gold standard in medical-grade laser technology. It combines two laser wavelengths: Alexandrite (755nm) and ND:YAG (1064nm). In plain English, this means it works effectively across a much broader range of skin tones Whether you’re fair-skinned or have a deeper complexion or have black or brown skin, we can treat you safely and effectively.

Medical-grade laser delivers consistent, targeted energy. The results speak for themselves.

“How Many Sessions Will I Actually Need?”

This is the number one question we get, and we’ll always give you an honest answer rather than a sales-driven one. The truth is it depends and is individial for everyone. Factors like skin colour, hair colour, hair thickness and hormones all play a part

As a broad average most people need 8 to 10 sessions, spaced roughly 8 weeks apart on the body area and 4-6 weeks on face. Why? Because laser hair removal only works on hair in the active growth phase (called the anagen phase), and at any given time, only a portion of your hairs are in this phase. Each session catches a new batch.

Factors that affect how many sessions you’ll need include:

Hair colour and thickness — coarser, darker hair tends to respond fastest

Skin tone — our Candela GentleMax Pro is calibrated specifically for your individual skin type

Hormonal factors — conditions like PCOS can mean ongoing maintenance sessions are beneficial

The treatment area — some areas have deeper hair, some areas are more sensitive but this doesn’t mean effective results are not achieved.

After a full course, the vast majority of our clients experience a dramatic and long-term reduction in hair growth. Many describe it as life-changing — and we don’t use that word lightly.

Does It Hurt? (The Honest Answer)

Most people describe the sensation as a warm snap — like a rubber band flicked against the skin, followed by a cooling sensation. You have to feel it a bit for it to do its job, its entirely manaageable and much less painful than waxing if you have ever tried that! The Candela GentleMax Pro has a built-in Cooling Device that significantly reduces discomfort and we use ice too as needed.

Sensitive areas — like the upper lip or lower bikini line — may feel more intense than, say, your legs. But the vast majority of our clients find it very manageable, and sessions are typically quick. Underarms can take under 10 minutes. Legs are longer but sessions are still measured in minutes, not hours.

Is Laser Hair Removal Safe for All Skin Types?

This is where technology really matters — and why choosing the right clinic is so important, especially if you have a darker skin tone.

The Candela GentleMax Pro’s dual-wavelength system addresses this. The ND:YAG 1064nm laser bypasses the melanin in the skin’s surface and targets the follicle directly, making it safe and effective for a much wider range of skin tones, including skin of colour.

At The Body Lab, we carry out a full patch test and consultation before any treatment begins. This isn’t just a box-ticking exercise — it’s how we ensure your treatment is tailored to your skin type and hair characteristics so you get the best possible results.

What About Ingrown Hairs?

If you’re a sufferer of ingrown hairs — particularly in the bikini area, legs, or underarms — laser hair removal can be genuinely transformative.

Ingrown hairs happen when the hair grows back into the skin rather than up through the follicle. Shaving and waxing are notorious for causing them. Laser hair removal reduces the hair at the root, meaning as hair growth decreases session by session, so does the problem of ingrowns. Many clients come to us specifically for this reason, and the improvement they see is remarkable.

“Is It Really Permanent?”

Let’s be accurate here: laser hair removal offers long term hair reduction, not permanent hair removal (though many clients do achieve near-total removal). Regulatory bodies like the FDA use the term “permanent reduction,” and this is the standard across the industry.

What does that mean in practice? After a full course of treatment, most clients see an 80–90% reduction in hair growth. Any remaining hair tends to be finer, lighter, and much slower-growing. Occasional top-up sessions once a year or so can maintain your results long-term.

Compared to a lifetime of shaving, waxing appointments, and depilatory creams — the maths very quickly makes sense.

Why Choose The Body Lab in Wiltshire?

We know you have options. Here’s why our clients keep choosing us — and keep recommending us.

We’re award-winning. The Body Lab was named Best for Laser Hair Removal in Swindon in both 2023 and 2024. These awards are based on client feedback, quality of results, and service standards. We’re proud of every one.

We’re members of the British Medical Laser Association (BMLA). Membership means we operate to the highest standards of safety and education in laser practice. In an industry that is largely unregulated, this matters enormously.

We use the best equipment. The Candela GentleMax Pro isn’t the cheapest option — it’s the best option. We invested in it because your results depend on it.

We’re people, not a production line. Our approach is welcoming, non-judgemental, and genuinely personalised. We see clients from across Wiltshire and beyond, and our five-star reviews consistently reflect the care and knowledge we bring to every appointment.

We treat everyone. All skin tones, all genders. Laser hair removal isn’t just for one type of person, and neither is The Body Lab.

How Much Does Laser Hair Removal Cost in Wiltshire?

Prices vary depending on the treatment area and number of sessions. We offer competitive pricing and are transparent about costs from the outset — no hidden fees, no pressure.

The best first step is to book a consultation, where we’ll assess your hair and skin type, talk through your goals, and put together a treatment plan that makes sense for you. A patch test is required before treatment begins.

You can view our current pricing on our website or give us a call to chat through your options.

Ready to change your unwanted hair?

Laser hair removal is one of those treatments where the clients who wish they’d done it sooner far outnumber those who have any regrets. If you’re ready to find out whether it’s right for you, we’d love to hear from you.

Book your consultation with The Body Lab Wiltshire today.

📍 Unit 19, The Orbit Centre, Ashworth Road, Swindon, SN5 7YG 📞 07887 449120 🌐 thebodylabwiltshire.co.uk

The Body Lab is an award-winning aesthetic clinic in Swindon, Wiltshire, specialising in laser hair removal, fat freezing, body sculpting, and skin treatments.
Microneedling vs SQT Bio Microneedling: The Ultimate Guide to Skin Rejuvenation in Swindon

If you’ve been researching ways to rejuvenate your skin, tackle acne scars, or reduce the appearance of fine lines, you’ve probably come across microneedling. But did you know there are actually two very different types of microneedling available? At The Body Lab Wiltshire, we’re proud to be the first clinic in Swindon to offer both traditional pen-based microneedling and the revolutionary SQT Bio Microneedling treatment.

Understanding the difference between these two powerful skin treatments can help you make the best choice for your skin goals. In this comprehensive guide, we’ll break down everything you need to know about both types of microneedling, how they work, what results you can expect, and which treatment might be right for you.

What is Microneedling? The Science Behind the Glow

Before diving into the differences, let’s understand what microneedling actually does for your skin.

Microneedling works on a simple but powerful principle: controlled micro-injuries to the skin trigger your body’s natural healing response. When the skin detects these tiny wounds, it immediately gets to work producing fresh collagen and elastin – the proteins responsible for keeping your skin firm, smooth, and youthful.

This process, known as collagen induction therapy, has been used for decades to address a wide range of skin concerns including:

Fine lines and wrinkles

Acne scars and other types of scarring

Enlarged pores

Uneven skin texture and tone

Hyperpigmentation and sun damage

Stretch marks

Dull, tired-looking skin

Early signs of ageing

The beauty of microneedling is that it harnesses your body’s own regenerative powers. Unlike some treatments that temporarily mask problems, microneedling actually helps your skin renew itself from within.

Traditional Pen Microneedling: The Established Gold Standard

Traditional microneedling, also known as pen-based microneedling or device microneedling, has been a popular aesthetic treatment for many years. Here’s what you need to know about this proven method.

How Pen Microneedling Works

At The Body Lab Wiltshire, we use the Silhouette Beauty pen with anti-backflow technology – a medical-grade device that delivers precise, controlled treatment.

During a pen microneedling session:

Your skin is thoroughly cleansed

The pen device, equipped with fine sterile needles, is moved across the treatment area

The needles rapidly puncture the skin at a controlled depth, creating approximately 90,000 micro-channels

These micro-injuries trigger your skin’s healing response and create pathways for product absorption

Serums or growth factors are applied to penetrate deeply into the skin

The Pen Microneedling Experience

Comfort level: Most clients describe the sensation as tolerable – like light sandpaper moving across the skin or tiny pinpricks. SQT Bio Microneedling requires no numbing and is significantly more comfortable, with just a tingling sensation.

Can I wear makeup after microneedling? After pen microneedling, wait 24-48 hours. After SQT, you can typically apply makeup after 24 hours, though we recommend waiting longer if possible.

Will microneedling help with my acne scars? Yes! Both treatments address acne scarring. Pen microneedling excels at deep, pitted scars, while SQT is particularly effective for superficial scarring and active acne.

How many treatments will I need? Most people need 4-6 sessions of either treatment, though some see results sooner with SQT due to its accelerated timeline. Your specific needs will be assessed during consultation.

Can microneedling be done on darker skin tones? Absolutely. SQT Bio Microneedling is particularly safe for all skin tones, including darker complexions, with minimal risk of post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation. Pen microneedling can also be safely performed on all skin types with proper protocols.

How long do results last? Results are semi-permanent as the collagen produced is your own. However, skin continues to age, so maintenance treatments (typically every 6-12 months) help preserve results.

Can I combine microneedling with other treatments? Yes! Microneedling pairs beautifully with treatments like dermaplaning (before microneedling), LED light therapy (after), and chemical peels (at separate appointments). We can create comprehensive treatment plans.

What’s the difference between microneedling and dermarolling? Dermarolling (at-home rollers) creates uneven, unpredictable punctures and carries infection risk if not properly sterilized. Professional microneedling provides controlled, precise treatment with medical-grade equipment in a sterile environment – the results are incomparable.

Real Results: What Our Swindon Clients Say

Our clients have experienced transformative results with both types of microneedling at The Body Lab Wiltshire:

“Had my first treatment of SQT bio microneedling with Becky only a few days ago and can already notice an improvement in my skin.
Your Complete Guide to Laser Treatment Preparation and Aftercare in Swindon

Getting ready for your first laser treatment at The Body Lab Wiltshire? Whether you’re preparing for laser hair removal, skin rejuvenation, or thread vein treatment, proper preparation and aftercare can make all the difference to your results. This comprehensive guide will walk you through everything you need to know before and after your laser treatment in Swindon.

Why Preparation Matters for Laser Treatments

Many clients don’t realise that what you do in the weeks before your laser appointment can significantly impact both the safety and effectiveness of your treatment. At our award-winning Swindon clinic, we’ve seen firsthand how proper preparation leads to better results, fewer side effects, and a more comfortable experience overall.

Laser technology works by targeting specific chromophores in the skin – whether that’s melanin in hair follicles for hair removal, haemoglobin in blood vessels for vein treatments, or water in the dermis for skin rejuvenation. When you prepare your skin correctly, you’re giving the laser the best possible canvas to work with.

6 Weeks Before Your Laser Treatment: What to Avoid

Say Goodbye to Sun Exposure

This is perhaps the most crucial preparation step that many people overlook. Tanned or sun-damaged skin contains excess melanin, which can interfere with laser treatments and increase the risk of complications like hyperpigmentation or burns.

If you’re booking laser treatment in Swindon, avoid:

Sunbathing or using sunbeds for at least 4-6 weeks before treatment

Spray tans or fake tan products (these must be completely faded)

Prolonged outdoor exposure without high-factor SPF protection

Even in the British climate, UV exposure happens year-round. We recommend using a minimum SPF 30 daily, even during winter months in Wiltshire.

Stop Hair Removal Methods That Remove the Root

For laser hair removal specifically, this is essential. The laser needs the hair follicle to be present beneath the skin surface to work effectively.

Avoid these methods 4-6 weeks before treatment:

Waxing

Threading

Epilating

Plucking

Hair removal creams that dissolve the root

You can continue shaving as this only removes hair at the surface level and doesn’t interfere with the follicle.

Pause Certain Skincare Products

Some skincare ingredients can make your skin more sensitive to laser treatment. At The Body Lab Wiltshire, we advise stopping the following 5-7 days before your appointment:

Retinoids (retinol, tretinoin, Retin-A)

AHA and BHA acids (glycolic acid, salicylic acid)

Vitamin C serums (high concentration)

Any prescription acne medications

Exfoliating treatments or scrubs

These products increase cell turnover and can make your skin more vulnerable to irritation during laser treatment.

24-48 Hours Before: Final Preparations

For Laser Hair Removal

Shave the treatment area 12-24 hours before your appointment. This is important because:

Hair that’s too long can absorb too much energy and cause discomfort

Freshly shaved skin gives the laser optimal access to the hair follicle

You avoid any potential surface singeing of longer hairs

Many clients in Swindon ask us whether to shave the morning of their appointment. We typically recommend shaving the evening before, as this gives any minor irritation time to settle.

For Facial Laser Treatments

Come to your appointment with clean, bare skin:

Remove all makeup thoroughly

Skip your morning skincare routine (except gentle cleanser) no retional or acids

Avoid applying any products, including moisturiser

Stay Hydrated

Well-hydrated skin responds better to laser treatment. Drink plenty of water in the days leading up to your appointment – aim for at least 2 litres daily.

What to Expect During Your Treatment at The Body Lab

When you arrive at our Swindon clinic, here’s what typically happens:

Consultation review – We’ll check your skin, answer any last-minute questions, and confirm you’ve followed preparation guidelines

Photograph and mark area – So we have record of your skin on the treatment area

Eye protection – You’ll be given protective eyewear (mandatory for all laser treatments)

Treatment – Using our medical-grade Candela GentleMax Pro laser, we’ll treat the designated area

Cooling gel or compress – We apply soothing products to calm the skin

Our advanced laser technology includes built-in cooling systems, making treatments more comfortable than many people expect. Most clients describe the sensation as similar to a rubber band snapping against the skin – brief and very manageable.

Immediate Aftercare: The First 24 Hours

The first day after your laser treatment is crucial for optimal healing and results.

What’s Normal

Mild redness (like a light sunburn)

Slight warmth in the treated area

Minor swelling, especially around hair follicles

Tingling or tenderness

Small bumps at the treatment site

These reactions typically subside within a few hours and are completely normal responses to the laser energy. If you have any concerns call us and we can talk through

What to Do

Cool the area: Apply a cold compress or ice pack wrapped in a clean cloth for 10-15 minutes several times during the first day. This reduces inflammation and soothes discomfort.

Gentle cleansing: Use only lukewarm water and a mild, fragrance-free cleanser.
Fat Freezing vs Other Body Contouring Treatments in Swindon : Your Complete Guide

Choosing the right body contouring treatment can feel overwhelming with so many options available today. If you’re based in Swindon or anywhere in Wiltshire and researching ways to tackle stubborn fat, you’ve probably come across terms like fat freezing, radiofrequency, ultrasound cavitation, and more.

At The Body Lab Wiltshire, we understand that making an informed decision about your body is important. That’s why we’ve created this comprehensive guide to help you understand how different treatments compare and which might be best suited to your goals.

Understanding Your Body Contouring Options

Fat Freezing (Cryolipolysis)

Fat freezing has become one of the most popular non-surgical body contouring treatments in recent years, and for good reason. This treatment uses controlled cooling technology to freeze and eliminate fat cells permanently. The process is FDA-cleared and has been performed millions of times worldwide with excellent safety records.

The treatment typically takes 35 to 60 minutes per area, with results becoming visible over two to three months as your body naturally processes the destroyed fat cells. Most clients at our Swindon clinic see a 20 to 25 percent reduction in fat in the treated area after a single session.

Best for: Abdomen, love handles, thighs, arms, back fat, double chin, and other areas with pinchable fat. Ideal for people close to their target weight who want to address specific problem areas.

Radiofrequency Body Contouring

Radiofrequency treatments use heat energy to target fat cells and tighten skin simultaneously. The heat penetrates deep into the tissue, breaking down fat while stimulating collagen production for firmer, more toned-looking skin.

Unlike fat freezing, radiofrequency treatments typically require multiple sessions to see optimal results, usually between four to eight treatments. However, they can be excellent for people who want both fat reduction and skin tightening in one treatment.

Best for: Areas with mild to moderate fat and loose skin. Popular for stomach, thighs, and arms where skin laxity is a concern.

Ultrasound Cavitation

Ultrasound cavitation uses low-frequency sound waves to burst fat cell membranes, turning the fat into liquid that your body then eliminates. This treatment is painless and requires no downtime, though like radiofrequency, multiple sessions are usually needed.

The results from ultrasound cavitation can be seen more quickly than fat freezing, often within a few weeks, but maintaining results requires ongoing treatments and a commitment to healthy lifestyle habits.

Best for: Larger areas of fat and people who prefer a series of shorter treatments rather than one longer session.

Laser Lipo (Low-Level Laser Therapy)

Laser lipo uses laser energy to create small pores in fat cells, causing them to release their contents. The procedure is non-invasive and painless, with no recovery time needed. However, results are typically more subtle than with other methods, and multiple treatments are required.

Best for: People looking for subtle improvements or as an addition to other body contouring methods.

How Does Fat Freezing Compare?

When comparing fat freezing to other body contouring options available in Swindon and Wiltshire, several factors stand out:

Effectiveness and Results

Fat freezing offers some of the most dramatic and measurable results of all non-invasive treatments. Clinical studies consistently show an average fat reduction of 20 percent per treated area, and because the fat cells are permanently eliminated, results are long-lasting when combined with a stable weight.

Many clients at The Body Lab Wiltshire choose fat freezing specifically because of the proven track record and scientifically backed results.

Treatment Time and Convenience

One of fat freezing’s biggest advantages is that significant results can often be achieved in a single session per area. While other treatments like radiofrequency or cavitation may require six to eight sessions, fat freezing typically requires one to three sessions depending on your goals.

For busy professionals in Swindon, this means fewer appointments and less time commitment overall, even though each individual session is longer.

Safety Profile

Fat freezing has an excellent safety record with minimal side effects. The most common experiences are temporary numbness, redness, or mild bruising that resolves within days. Because the treatment specifically targets fat cells while leaving other tissues unharmed, it’s considered very safe.

The treatment is FDA-cleared and has been extensively studied in clinical trials, giving clients peace of mind about the procedure’s safety.

Cost Effectiveness

While fat freezing may have a higher upfront cost per session compared to some treatments, the total cost can be lower when you factor in the number of sessions needed. Because fat freezing often achieves goals in fewer treatments, many Swindon clients find it more cost-effective overall.

What About Surgical Options?

Some people considering body contouring also wonder how non-invasive treatments compare to surgical procedures like liposuction. While liposuction can remove larger volumes of fat in a single procedure, it comes with significant considerations:

Liposuction requires anesthesia, incisions, and a recovery period of several weeks. There’s also a higher risk of complications, scarring, and uneven results if not performed perfectly. The cost is considerably higher, often thousands of pounds more than non-invasive alternatives.

For many people in Wiltshire, fat freezing and other non-surgical treatments offer an appealing middle ground. You get significant, visible results without the risks, downtime, or expense of surgery.

Choosing the Right Treatment for Your Goals

At The Body Lab Wiltshire in Swindon, we believe the best treatment is the one that aligns with your specific goals, body type, and lifestyle. Here are some questions to consider:

Are you looking to address one or two specific problem areas, or do you want overall body contouring? Fat freezing excels at targeting specific stubborn areas, while treatments like radiofrequency might be better for overall skin tightening and toning.

How much time can you commit to treatments? If you prefer fewer appointments, fat freezing’s single-session approach might suit you better than treatments requiring multiple visits.

What’s your budget? Consider not just the per-session cost but the total investment needed to achieve your desired results.

Do you have concerns about skin laxity as well as fat? Combining treatments or choosing radiofrequency might address both issues simultaneously.

How quickly do you want to see results? While fat freezing takes two to three months to show full results, treatments like cavitation can show changes more quickly, though they may be less dramatic.

Can You Combine Different Treatments?

Absolutely! Many clients at The Body Lab Wiltshire achieve their best results by combining different body contouring treatments. For example, you might use fat freezing to eliminate stubborn fat deposits and then follow up with radiofrequency to tighten any loose skin in the area.

We can create a personalized treatment plan that combines the strengths of different technologies to help you achieve your ideal body contours.

What Results Can You Realistically Expect?

It’s important to have realistic expectations about any body contouring treatment. These procedures are designed to refine and sculpt your body, not to serve as weight loss solutions. The best candidates are people who are already at or near their goal weight but struggle with specific areas of stubborn fat.

At our Swindon clinic, we’ve seen clients achieve remarkable transformations with fat freezing and other body contouring treatments. The key is choosing the right treatment for your unique situation and maintaining a healthy lifestyle to preserve your results.

Most people see the best outcomes when they view body contouring as part of an overall wellness approach that includes regular exercise, balanced nutrition, and good self-care habits.

Why Location Matters for Your Treatment

Choosing a reputable clinic in Swindon or Wiltshire for your body contouring treatment is crucial. At The Body Lab Wiltshire, we invest in the latest technology and ensure our team stays updated on the most effective techniques and protocols.

We also believe in honest consultations where we assess whether you’re a good candidate for treatment and set realistic expectations about what you can achieve. Not every provider takes this approach, but we believe it’s essential for your satisfaction and safety.

Taking the Next Step

If you’re ready to explore body contouring options, the first step is scheduling a consultation with a qualified provider. At The Body Lab Wiltshire in Swindon, we offer comprehensive consultations where we can assess your goals, discuss your options, and create a personalized treatment plan.

With the right treatment and provider, you can finally address those stubborn areas and feel more comfortable in your own skin.

Why Fat Freezing is One of the Most Effective Non-Surgical Body Contouring Treatments

If you’ve been struggling with stubborn pockets of fat that won’t budge despite diet and exercise, you’re not alone. Many people in Swindon and across Wiltshire are discovering the benefits of fat freezing, a revolutionary non-invasive treatment that’s transforming the way we approach body contouring.

At The Body Lab Wiltshire in Swindon, we’ve seen firsthand how fat freezing can help clients achieve their body goals without surgery, needles, or downtime. But what makes this treatment so effective, and why should you consider it?

What is Fat Freezing?

Fat freezing, also known as cryolipolysis, is an FDA-cleared treatment that uses controlled cooling to target and eliminate stubborn fat cells. The procedure works by cooling fat cells to a precise temperature that triggers their natural death, while leaving surrounding skin and tissue completely unharmed.

Once these fat cells are frozen, your body naturally processes and eliminates them over the following weeks and months. The result? A more sculpted, contoured appearance in the treated areas without any surgical intervention.

The Key Benefits of Fat Freezing

Non-Invasive with No Downtime

One of the biggest advantages of fat freezing is that it’s completely non-surgical. There are no incisions, no anesthesia, and no recovery period required. Most clients at our Swindon clinic are able to return to their normal activities immediately after treatment, making it perfect for busy lifestyles.

Targets Stubborn Fat Areas

We all have those frustrating areas where fat seems to cling on no matter how much we exercise or how well we eat. Fat freezing is particularly effective for targeting common problem areas including the abdomen, love handles, thighs, upper arms, back fat. These are typically the areas that resist traditional weight loss methods.

Long-Lasting, Natural-Looking Results

Unlike weight loss, which shrinks fat cells, fat freezing actually eliminates them from your body. Once these fat cells are gone, they’re gone for good. This means that when maintained with a healthy lifestyle, your results can be long-lasting. The gradual nature of the fat reduction also ensures that your results look natural, with improvements becoming visible over two to three months.

Safe and Scientifically Proven

Fat freezing technology has been extensively studied and has a strong safety profile. The treatment has been used successfully on millions of people worldwide, with minimal side effects. At The Body Lab Wiltshire, we use advanced equipment and follow strict protocols to ensure your safety and comfort throughout the procedure.

Boosts Confidence and Motivation

Beyond the physical results, many of our Swindon clients report that fat freezing gives them a significant confidence boost. Seeing tangible results from their treatment often motivates them to maintain healthier habits, creating a positive cycle of self-care and wellbeing.

Is Fat Freezing Right for You?

Fat freezing is ideal for people who are close to their target weight but struggle with isolated areas of stubborn fat. It’s not a weight loss solution or a substitute for a healthy lifestyle, but rather a way to refine and sculpt your body contours.

The treatment works best for those who maintain a stable weight and have realistic expectations about their results. During a consultation at The Body Lab Wiltshire in Swindon, we can assess your individual needs and determine whether fat freezing is the right approach for your goals.

What to Expect During Treatment

A typical fat freezing session at our Swindon clinic lasts between 35 to 60 minutes per area. During the treatment, you’ll feel an initial cooling sensation as the applicator is applied, but most clients find the procedure comfortable enough to read, work on their laptop, or simply relax.

Common side effects are minimal and may include temporary redness, numbness, or tingling in the treated area, which typically resolves within a few days. Many people are surprised by just how easy and comfortable the entire process is.
